Guru Krishna Kumar :
Mr.Krishna Kumar made his
stage debut in Kuchpudi Style of dance at the tender age of five
under the rigorous training of his father, the well known music
director, dancer and choreographer Shri M.Harinath.
At the age of nine he started to perform together
with his elder brother and sister the "Burra Katha"
(Telugu dance drama). Soon the trio became the most popular troupe
of Andhra Pradesh, touring all over India.
Later on Krishna continued his further studies
of classical music and dance under the brilliant guidance of eminent
teachers like Guru Adayar Lashmanan (Bharata Natyam) and the famous
vocalist M.D Ramanathan (carnatic vocal).
At the age of 24 Krishna joined the prestigious
Arts Academy "Triveni Kala Sangam" New Delhi as a teacher
for Kuchipudi and Bharata Natyam style of dance.
Later on he started touring extensively the USA,
Canada, France, England, Germany and the Middle East as a solo
dancer as well as accompanying professional dancers as a concert
musician.
In 1979 he and his German student and wife Gita
moved back to South India where they set up their own dance academy
in a tranquil atmosphere on the seaside near Pondicherry.
Shri Krishna Kumar is a rare combination of a
dancer, concert musician and a highly respected Guru. His broad
knowledge of music and mime enables him not only to teach but
also to compose music and choreograph dance for every given theme.
He has composed more than 20 different dance
dramas and produced 2 CD's of his own.
With his beautiful soul stirring voice he deeply
understands how to create rhythmical intensity for the dance and
emotional depthness for the drama.
