Gita Kumar :

was born and brought up in Germany. From early childhood on she attended classes in ballet and was a member of various theatre groups. Soon she developed a keen interest towards Indian dance and drama and at the age of 18 she came to India to study Bharata Natyam at the Triveni Kala Sangam under Krishna Kumar.

In 1979 she became his wife and together they started their own school of dance and music on the seashore near Pondicherry, South India.

Since then she is performing and touring extensively together with Krishna all over India and Europe as well as assisting her husband in his dance choreographies and the teaching activities of their school. She has developed a special system of short of short term intensive coaching for foreigners and introduced free coaching for the poor children in their school.
